It's crucial to know common keywords when using the internet to search for information. Google Insights shows where searches for certain keywords are being originated and how popular the keyword is.

In order to choose the best website title, I compared 'algorithmic trading' to 'automated trading':Here's the map of where 'algorithmic trading' searches were coming from:And 'automated trading':
So Australia prefers 'automated' and Canada and Hong Kong prefer 'algorithmic'. London, Chicago, and New York use both. No other city contributes an appreciable amount of search volume. I guess we are rare.

Another interesting comparison is 'support vector' and 'neural network'. It's sad to see that both are falling and the U.S. is not a significant contributor. Neural networks are clearly more popular.

It's was also useful to find the most popular combination of keywords commonly used in research paper titles: 'time series', 'financial', 'forecasting', and 'prediction'. 'Financial forecasting' is most common.

I'd be interested to hear if you've found a creative method to identify the best keywords when you're looking for information on an unfamiliar topic. Looking for papers without knowing the lingo in an academic field feels like groping blindly in the dark.
